What is a devacurl transformation?
If you find your curls super dry, lifeless, or just overall unmanageable, it is time for a transformation.

A Deva transformation also means completely swapping out the bad with the good! Products that are formulated without sulfates, silicones, and parabens will bring your curls back to life.
What is a devacurl cut?
The DevaCut is a special technique for cutting curly, wavy or coily hair. Created at the Devachan Salon, the technique has morphed into its own life line for CURLY GIRLS! Performing this service takes much knowledge and specific education for a DevaCurl Stylist.

Your style is determined during a thorough consultation. We will discuss which products you are currently using, what your daily maintenance is like and your short-term and long-term goals!

The cut is done on dry hair so I can see how each curl is individually shaped and where the curl falls.
What should i expect during my Devacurl appointment?
No need to sweat! Once you arrive to the salon I will introduce myself and walk you over to my chair and provide you with a beverage.

Once you are cozy and comfortable, we will go through a in depth conversation. I will have my questions ready, don't forget yours! Once I have learn more about your hair history, we will discuss your short-term and long-term hair goals.
I will then proceed to cut your hair dry. Once I have finished the cut, we will head to the shampoo sink and this is where the magic happens. Transformation time! I will cleanse your freshly trimmed hair, followed by a conditioner, which I will choose for your exact curl type. I will walk you through step-by-step which hand picked products I have chosen for your ultimate curly girl style.
The process of applying these products are semi in the shampoo sink (and I will explain why as I style you) and semi sitting up. After all products are in your hair, you will sit under a drying lamp. Not a hooded dryer, WHY? Well- a hooded dryer blows out hot air, causing your curls to automatically frizz all over, while a drying lamp, dries with its infrared lights leaving your curls with a beautiful finished look.

Under the drier between 30 minutes, I will leave you to relax with a coffee in hand and possibly a magazine or two. After your dry, you will come over to my chair and I will make any minor adjustments.

what causes my curls to feel dry?
A few things that can contribute to drying out curls products that contain:

Sulfates- the chemical behind the suds. They are known to strip hair of its essential oils and leave the hair feeling and looking dried out.

Skimping on conditioner- Whether you have wavy, curly, or coils, if you cut back on conditioning on a regular basis it will our curls feeling dehydrated and vulnerable to breakage.

Parabens- in other words known as curly hair kryptonite. Often used in beauty products as preservatives, they have been known to compromise the integrity of the hair and scalp. Curly hair can be easily frazzled and dehydrated and using products filled with parabens will just make it worse.

Silicones- is not necessarily bad for hair and certainly aren't the only ingredient that weighs down hair. However, to maintain the bounce and liveliness to your curls, silicone-free products are best.
Are devacurl products safe for my curls?
All Devacurl products are sulfate, paraben, silicone, pthalate, cruelty free. Using products without these ingredients are in the best interest of curls. These ingredients can be rough on your curls, stripping their natural oils, blocking moisture, or causing buildup that can weigh them down.

How long does it take for devacurl to work?
Great question! Just remember any transformation takes time. Your first appointment is the start to a whole new life of healthy and resilient curls. After cutting off any breakage and introducing DevaCurl products into your hair routine, it may take between 1-2 months before seeing results. It may feel like it is time consuming but the end result is definitely worth the wait.
How often do i get a devacut?
While everyone's hair is different and it depends ultimately on your style and the health of your hair. We will discuss how often you should be booking your haircut visits during your consultation.
How long does this appointment take?
Your visit, on average, will take between 70-85 minutes.
This includes the initial consultation, the actual DevaCut, the Transformation Service, a step-by-step styling session and drying time.

if you are a returning client about 60-70 minutes. This includes your DevaCut, Transformation service, and styling process.

How do i prepare for my appointment?

Leave your hair alone- I will be cutting your hair while it is dry and in its natural state. Arrive to the salon with your curls conditioned, detangled, 100% dry and un-styled. If you’re currently using products with sulfates, silicones or heavy oils, do your best to avoid them for one to two weeks before your your scheduled appointment. Ditching those ingredients more hydrated and more defined, which will allow the met to see your true curl type.

Bringing your hair goals pic- When looking for inspirational photos of what you would like your hair too look like, keep in mind choosing photos of your same curls. If you have wavy hair but bring in a picture of kinky coils can be hard to achieve. So when picking out your 'pic' choose to your similar hair.

Be prepared to share- Before we even get into the cutting, we will have a nice in depth consultation on your hair history. I want to know it all- the highlights, the challenges and our approach to daily maintenance. Make a list of all products you are currently using-shampoos, conditioners, and styling products.The more you share, the better I can create a cut and a daily styling routine you'll love!
